We absolutely LOVE the Lake District, so we jumped at the chance to photograph Hannah and Damien’s wedding at the Grange Hotel in Grange over Sands. The fact that they are two of the most lovely and welcoming people we’ve had the chance to work with was just a bonus!
Hannah got ready in a dedicated bridal prep area in the absolutely vast and very impressive Grange Hotel. The morning was super chilled with the bridesmaids, Mums and the occasional visit from groomsmen as Damien was getting ready (and posing like a magazine model) on the other side of the hotel.
The ceremony itself took place in a small church at the other side of the village with views over looking the bay. The church was beautiful – the perfect place for these two to tie the knot.
BRIDE AND GROOM PORTRAITS
After walking backwards down a curved, sloping confetti line (without breaking my neck!) we headed to the train station opposite the hotel for some bride and groom formals. The station was absolutely stunning and completely deserted which gave us the perfect opportunity to use it to our full advantage. It helped that just behind the station there was a coastal walk with beautiful views across the bay. We could shoot there every week!
After our fun on the front we headed across the road and back to the Grange Hotel for the group shots and to photograph Hannah and Damien’s guests chilling out in front of the hotel in the beautiful sunshine we’ve been having this summer. There were so many smiles and so much laughter at this wedding it made our job a dream.
The wedding breakfast was interrupted by the absolute insanity caused by the wedding singers. The entire room were on their chairs, singing, dancing, and hurling abuse at each other in the Groom vs Bride games (which were amazing). The meal was topped off with a dance performance from the hottest new boy band around – at times it was hard to tell if they were wedding guests or One Direction had racked up in their place. Inspiring.
After briefly taking Hannah and Damien for a breather at the park just opposite the hotel and getting some gorgeous shots in the softer setting sun we headed back to the hotel for some more relaxed festival vibes out the front of the hotel.
Carrying on from the atmosphere created by the singing waiters the dance floor went off! We absolutely love having a packed dance floor and having a photographic opportunity everywhere you turn and Hannah and Damien’s dance floor was exactly that.
This was a brilliant wedding from start to finish and we’re thankful for being able to share the day with and amazing bride and groom and fantastic guests.
